Obama's attempt to destroy SDI

March 23, 1983, Ronald Reagan envisioned America with the ability to protect our people and cities with a missile defense shield and was castigated by the left. George W. Bush amped up that vision with funding ($100 billion since '84) and was castigated by the left. SDI has come a long way since the days of Reagan and the testing of the system is getting better as we advance. Candidate Obama stated he would support such a system if it was a "proven" technology. SDI has demonstrated it's worth through many successful tests. Have there been some failures? Yes, as is the case with all new technology.

The left has never been in favor of the United States being truly superior to our adversaries. Last week, President Obama attempted to trade our future missile defense batteries in Europe in the hope that the Russians would help us with Iran. What the hell is he thinking? Why would Russia help us with Iran. Yes, the Russians loath the idea of us having a missile defense shield on their border and in countries of their sphere of influence. Russian imports with Iran are in the hundreds of billions of dollars which would be lost in the event of an agreement with the U.S. This system will have no affect on Russian deterrence as they could easily overcome the "10" interceptors that would be stationed there.

Mr. Obama has shown his willingness to scrap our defense in favor of some good will from the world community. SDI has come a long way since 1983 and we cannot let it go to waste with President Obama's leftist world views. President Reagan refused to negotiate SDI during the Reykjavik summit with Gorbachev but Obama is willing to just give it away. I sure miss Ronald Reagan.

  1. I can't help but to laugh. I'll never fully understand what goes in the mind of a liberal. I'm not trying to offend any of the readers here, but I seriously feel like people on the far left have mental issues. It HAS to be a slight form of mental retardation. There's no other way to explain it.

"Obama stated he would support such a system if it was a "proven" technology"

Yet he forces funding for other UNproven technologies that suit his side's cause?

If it's not a mental disease or defect, how else can it be explained?

Personally, I'm more fearful of worldly enemies than supposed melting glaciers.

  2. It has always been my theory that liberalism is, at best, a belief system based on fantasy. At worst, it is a mental illness. These policies do nothing to dissuade me from that idea. When rogue nations and totalitarian states are increasing their missile capabilities, we are to decrease our defenses?? It boggles the mind.

  3. Almost all tests conducted over the previous 8 years have been a success. Expect more concessions to come!

  4. Harrison, I just want to get on the tallest building I can find and scream, "Our national defense is not a bargaining chip you "F"ing Liberals." Reagan used SDI as tool to destroy the USSR and Obama wants to just give it away.

@Ross and Josh, It must be some sort of mental disorder or just plain stupidity. As the video suggests, we cannot only hit a bullet with a bullet, but we can hit a spot on a bullet.

  5. The latest post at my blog features President Reagan.

BTW - Thank you VERY MUCH for calling it SDI and NOT Star Wars.

  6. Exactly: NOT a bargaining chip!

Although, I expect nothing less from liberal politicians at this point. They bargain with soldiers' lives on a daily basis. The next logical step is to bargain with their own lives -- since, you know, they actually reside in the country too.

^ Yet another strong supporting piece of evidence in the case for mental disorders!

  7. I wish Reagan were still around too. Obama is a freakin' joke and he will most assuredly bring disaster to this great nation either economically or war.

  8. Democrats have never liked SDI and using the "excuse" to trade it away for Russia to "help" us with Iran is just a way to kill the issue. After all, Democrats can point to Russia's "help" as the reason not their own stupid ideas about making nice with the world and having them make nice with us. If you want peace prepare for war!
