AXIS OF UNITY: Jihad from South America

There is a time bomb ticking on our southern border with Mexico and it is not the drug war that now envelops the region. The time bomb that I refer is Iranian backed Hezbollah terrorists that are operating in South America in the Tri-border ( Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina) area. Hezbollah has manipulated the frustrations of many Muslims among about 25,000 Arab residents that reside in that area. An investigation by Telemundo two years ago has uncovered details of an extensive smuggling network run by Hezbollah and funnels large sums of money to militia leaders in the Middle East to finances training camps.

Newsmax is reporting today that the Iranian-backed Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah is involved in drug trafficking in Colombia. The commander of U.S. forces in Latin America is worried about increased Iranian and Hezbollah activities throughout the region. Admiral James Stavridis states, "We have seen in Colombia a direct connection between Hezbollah activity and the narco-trafficking activity.” What is more troubling is the developing relationship between Venezuela Dictator Hugo Chavez and Iranian madman Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Ahmadinejad and Chavez are self-declared "revolutionaries,” united both by their contempt for the United States. They have declared themselves the Axis of Unity because of their shared goal of destroying the United States.

There are reports that Chavez is training Hezbollah operatives in Venezuela and just several months ago Turkey interdicted a shipment of what they believed were explosives, but were labeled tractor parts, that were heading from Iran to Venezuela. I just wonder what has made it through without being detected. With Iran on the verge of attaining nuclear capability, the United States must be more vigilant with our porous borders with Mexico. The next terrorist attack on the U.S. will most likely originate from our southern border and the terrorist cells may be already here. The narco-war in Mexico is troubling, however it is not as troubling as a WMD attack on an American city.

  2. This is a story that is not getting the attention that it should. We are going to get hit and probably at the G20 meeting. But in the US, the threat is from our border and not so much from the drug cartels.
