Obama and the Fairness Doctrine

For those of you that do not know what the Fairness Doctrine comprises, let me give you a little bit of history. The Fairness Doctrine was introduced in the U.S. in 1949 and it basically states that any controversial (conservative talk radio) issue required that contrasting viewpoints be presented. Under the Fairness Doctrine, Rush Limbaugh would be required to have some liberal candy-ass to have equal time on his show to rebut his "freedom of speech."

Liberals know that conservative talk radio is their Achilles hill but they still have the main stream media in their pocket. In the old days, liberals knew that they could count on ABC, NBC and CBS to carry their message and now they can add the likes of CNN and MSNBC among others. Like him or hate him, Rush Limbaugh saved AM radio and conservative talk radio was born. When Rush Limbaugh became syndicated in the late 80's, AM radio already had it's obit written. Limbaugh resurrected AM radio and opened the path for other conservative radio hosts.

Conservative talk radio has been the counter balance to the liberal media establishment to much of their chagrin. The main stream media has lost their monopoly with the re-emergence of talk radio and the conservative internet bloggers . Without talk radio, millions of Americans will be required to obtain their news from liberal news stations and assume the news as fact. With this election year being the most liberal media biased ever on record, talk radio is more important than ever before. The "new media" has made the main stream media propagandists job that much harder.

The Reagan administration abolished the Fairness Doctrine in 1986 with the rulings of Robert Bork and Antonin Scalia, United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
With the election of President-elect Obama, the question arises, will Obama sign a bill re-instituting the Fairness doctrine? Senator Chuck Shumer has compared talk radio to pornography and should be regulated. With the Socialist-Trifecta now in place, will Obama pass the Fairness Doctrine as they have propagated? Is muzzling talk radio Change that you can believe in?

  1. Newt was right today. We should call it for what it is, the CENSORSHIP DOCTRINE.

  2. Clay-You are correct and from this time on I will refer to it as the censorship doctrine, because that is exactly what it is.

  3. You have any new info on the Guantanamo Bay closing? From what I understand, 50 out of 225 previously released (22%) have been killed or wounded fighting against America -- and I hear yesterday that Obama is making plans to shut down operations and issue a no-strings-attached release for some.

I know that Bush wasn't able to find a country willing to take them, hence their (250+) detention. But Obama wants to create a new set of laws just for these guys? Wow.

I can't find any information on it that doesn't have a liberal spin.

It may be something that you already have read but it gives a good perspective of Obama's plan. This just shows that the Obama admin is going to go back to a pre-9/11 mindset and use law enforcement as the tool against Islamo-facist terrorism. It did't work during the Clinton Admin and it will not work now.

  5. When it boils down to it, the young conservative/country-minded men and women of America will once again be called upon to protect us from the fallout of another liberal blunder. This is already looking like deja vu.

Thanks for the link. I couldn't find one from FOX (which would have told the facts without sugar coating).
