Is Obama a "natural born citizen"-We may soon have an answer

The people that question President Obama's eligibility to be president may soon have their answer. It has been said that Mr. Obama never showed an actual birth certificate proving his citizenship and thus has been fought in court without success. Article II, Section 1 of the Untied States Constitution states, "No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President." In the past, the proof of birth of presidential candidates was never much of an issue. Most candidates and their life's are usually thoroughly vetted by the press before and during the campaign. Then came Barack Obama.

If Florida Rep. Bill Posey has his way, this situation will never occur again. Mr. Posey has introduced HR 1503, which will "amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to require the principal campaign committee of a candidate for election to the office of President to include with the committee's statement of organization a copy of the candidate's birth certificate, together with such other documentation as may be necessary to establish that the candidate meets the qualifications for eligibility to the Office of President under the Constitution." This Bill would not be retroactive and if passed, would take effect in 2012 at the earliest.

I called co-sponsor Rep. Neugebauer's office today and asked an aide that if Obama runs again, will he still have to provide proof of birth as a sitting president and after about ten minutes of waiting for the aide to find the answer, he finally came back to the phone with resounding yes. One would think a Bill of this sort would sail through the congress with bipartisan support. Why do I have this feeling that the liberals will bury it before it gains any traction. If you have to show a drivers license to cash a check or show a birth certificate to get a passport, why not show some documentation before becoming the most powerful man in the world.

Contact your Representatives today and demand that they support HR 1503.
Latest Major Action: 3/12/2009 Referred to House committee. Status: Referred to the House Committee on House Administration.
Co-sponsors: Rep's John Campbell CA, John R. Carter TX, John Abney Culberson TX, Bob Goodlatte VA and Randy Neugebauer TX.

  1. At first I didn't give the story of Obama's birth certificate much credence, but as I began to look into it in some detail, it appears that many unanswered questions remain. I think the truth will come out someday, but just when who can say. I wonder however, if Obama should turn out to be an imposter would the bills he signed into law still be binding? Suppose the courts would have to decide that issue.

  2. Re: HR 1503

You know of course that HR 1503 does not ask for the original birth certificate. It just asks for a birth certificate, and the Certification of Live Birth is now the official birth certificate that Hawaii sends out.

Moreover, HR 1503 does not ask the candidates to prove that their parents were US citizens at the time of birth.

  3. Thank you Dr. Jacobson for your comment and I am glad that you enjoy The Cloakroom. I have visited your blog and found it very informative.

@smrstauss, I will get clarification in regards to what is required of candidates.

@Ron, Good question. It would be new territory to explore.

  4. I have to admit, I've stayed away from the birth certificate story at my place. Everytime I read about it, I'm reminded of some "dirty tricks" the Clinton's played in the 90's. There were a few times that they would "leak" false information in the hopes that talk radio would bite on it, them show them to be false. As we have seen, dirty tricks and deciet are big in the messiah's playbook.

That being said, there does seem to be a lot of compelling evidence to suggest that something isn't right here. World Net Daily runs frequent stories about it. I do eant to see where this all leads. I do wonder though, what would the reaction be if it was discovered that he was not a citizen? Rioting? Destruction? I'm not saying that it shouldn't be pursued, but the consequences may he unpleasantly interesting.

  5. I agree with Matt above but this story does stink and I appreciate that you put this up here!

  6. I had to show my birth certificate to get a job at WalMart... Why shouldn't a potential POTUS? I find it appalling that he has not just asked for the long form from Hawaii and settled it once and for all. That is why it stinks for me...

Hawaii does not accept the Certification of Live Birth for Natives Hawaiians to claim right to Hawaiian homelands... How can it be accepted as proof for POTUS then?

    Stinky...

  7. Casey - as you know - I've been following this whole thing since it first broke before the election. Teh One has now spent close to $1 Million defending this thing. In addition, it has now been revealed that as far back as 2006 Obama had a law firm looking at ways to get around the citizenship issue - http://usjf.net

Here's another good resource for all the information on this guy - lots of good stuff here. It still amazes me how this happened with all of this evidence out there that he is not a natural born citizen. http://www.obamacitizenshipfacts.org

Obama has not spent a cent on keeping records secret. All the lawsuits against him were to stop the election or to stop the certification of the election.
