In the remembrance of those that sacrificed.

In normal times, I usually like to think of Memorial Day as being non-partisan and reflective in nature but unfortunately these are not normal times. Remembering the men and women that died to keep this country free and safe should not have political overtones but in today’s politically charged atmosphere, everything seems to be fair game. It appears to have started when the insurgency in Iraq picked up full steam and the liberal democrats began to undercut the war effort with an eye towards the 2004 Presidential elections.

There were many reasons that the Democratic Party abandoned our troops during a time of war. The far left was against the war from the beginning and has always believed America to be the problem and should not be the lone super power. The left of center democrats, for the most part, supported the war resolution in the beginning when it was politically popular to do so. When the war plans didn’t go as planned, the left of center (Murtha, Reid, Kerry and Clinton) that voted for the war resolution began a little CYA. With that kind of congressional leadership, World War II would have turned much different than what we celebrate today.

The amazing thing about liberal claims of “supporting the troops” but not the war are ridiculous on its face. Obama accused US forces of “air-raiding villages and killing civilians” and Congressman Murtha accused US Marines of "killing innocent civilians in cold blood.” Senator John Kerry started his bashing of the US military in 1971 when he declared, “the 200 thousand a year who are murdered by the United States of America.” Senator Durbin once compared US forces to “Nazis, Soviets in their gulags or some mad regime — Pol Pot or others — that had no concern for human beings." I think our troops can do without this kind of strong support from our liberal democrats.

After the democratic takeover of our government, the attacks continue and the apologies are forth coming. Nancy Pelosi has recently accused the men and women that protect this country of willfully lying to the Congress of the United States. How can we trust the Speaker of the House and the third person in line to be president when she throws the CIA under the bus to save her own ass. This Memorial Day, I would like to remember the men and women that died in the service of their country. Because of their sacrifice, liberals can spout all the crazy anti-American vitriol that fills their hearts.

President Obama recently returned from his apology for America tour in the hopes of international acceptance and goodwill. Mr. Obama, I would like to remind you of the tremendous sacrifice of American lives that need no apologies. These Americans that died in the cause of freedom probably turned in their collective graves when you declared America as being “arrogant.”

These soldiers would have never apologised for making the world safe against tyranny and fascism and they were certainly not arrogant. Thank you to all of the men and women in uniform and the intelligence community that make this world safe.
