The speech that was heard around the world

HOME RUN!
Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin took her turn at the plate and smacked the screwball pitch from the liberals and knocked it clear out of the park.
Palin owned that podium last night and spoke to the American people in their tongue. I think Joe Biden and the other half of the ticket took notice that their upcoming debates will not be a cake walk .
-
Some of my favorite quotes from Palin's speech are as follows:
"I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities."
-
"What does he (Obama) actually seek to accomplish after he's done turning back the waters and healing the planet? The answer is to make government bigger and take more of your money."
-
"I'm not going to Washington to seek their (liberal media) good opinion. I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this great country."
-
"But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed, when the roar of the crowd fades away, when the stadium lights go out and those styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot-when that happens, what exactly is our opponents plan?"
-
There are many other fantastic quotes that I could mention, as the whole speech was just such great oratory. If you did not see her speech, scroll down to the video side bar and watch with pleasure. The lines have been drawn in the sand and now the real battle begins for the White House.

  1. You know, a guy worked for me years ago that was the Mayor of a town about the size of Wassilla. There were some major differences in him and Ms. Palin, however.

-He had his own views, and didn't need a teleprompter to furnish them. Though I was a lefty (and still am) and he was hard right, we had a lunchtime political argument nearly every day, and he could hold his own. Also unlike Ms. Palin, he actually had some ideas about how to GET THINGS DONE. He didn't spend all his time demeaning good people like community organizers, who have helped literally millions of Americans. But then, like I said-he had ideas of his own beyond climbing the ladder, and was actually able to form and articulate opinions.

One other thing about him. He HATED his Police Chief, but he kept him around because....... he did a good job. The Chief didn't have to kiss the Mayor's behind in order to keep his job! Novel concept, huh?

  2. Yep, she knocked it clean out of the park, I was cheering and clapping all the way through.

Hey Roger, what exactly are those two angled pieces of glass that Odipstick looks at when he give a formal speech? Just curious. And I'v ebeen looking through several college catalogs and I can not find one course of study to be a "community Organizer". Maybe you can tell us exactly what this made up job description entails. Besides funneling money to corrupt race baiter's like ACORN, Thanks so much!

  3. Though you touched upon our favorite quote, Casey, you truncated the best part of the "community organizer" quip:

"I might add that in small towns, we don't quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren't listening.

We tend to prefer candidates who don't talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco."

"Scranton Joe" couldn't have said it better himself.

We agree; the speech was a home run, despite what the media thought about it. Americans surely took notice, and some of the most recent polling data suggest that the McCain/Palin ticket now leads Team Obama ever-so-slightly.

So long as the Republicans don't prematurely break out the Dom PĂ©rignon and that "Mission Accomplished" banner, all roads point to Rome.

  6. Wow, the conservatives really do follow suit no matter what. Impressive! One day i hope you can cross over the "lefties" as were called and experience thinking for yourself. It's amazing! First you have to let go of the social issues and realize that's not how you run a country. People dont want a religious leader in the white house. We want a president! We want obama! You'll see!!
